It Just Can't Be That Simple

  WTF of the Day
The title of this post links to another example of good intentions getting out of control.

The digital age provides teenagers with new ways to participate in that time honored tradition known as teenage stupidity. Seems the latest in juvenile cool is to take a cell phone picture of your naked self & send it to your friends. To your normal adult, this is a horrible idea - for many reasons.

It seems some poor schmucks had their pictures discovered by "authorities". Concerned about child predators "authorities decided to file the child pornography charges to send a strong message".

According to the article, the unlucky kids might not get jail time but they will be forced to register as sexual offenders for at least 10 years.

So a stern lecture has been replaced with getting tagged as a pervert. The cost of teenage high jinks has gotten pretty high. The only thing remaining constant is the mantra - be cool but don't get caught. In that light, maybe this is just some low level Darwinism.

I can't wait to read about the proud parent charged with child pornography for taking a picture of their naked newborn.
