It Just Can't Be That Simple

  Computational Status Quo
Some things never change - Vista still sucks!

I spent four hours trying to copy files from a Macintosh laptop to my Vista based laptop. Silly me, I thought my lack of Macintosh knowledge was going to be an issue. Nope. The Mac side was pretty easy to sort. Even when it got sticky, I was able to open a shell & whip out some Unix. The Windows side however was an exercise in frustration. Every clever idea I produced just uncovered another Redmond road block.

Now in all fairness I was able to get the computers connected. That bit only took 20 minutes. And most of that was just searching for the correct Macintosh panel. But my industrial strength file transfer was simply out of the question.

So once I get all my files backed up to DVD, I'm going to lobotomize this Vista based POS - dual boot with Linux. Then once again, simple tasks will be simple.

Hey Bill, the take away message is this - piss off customer, lose customer.
